South Mountains State Park, at more than 18,000 acres, is North Carolina’s largest state park. Our phased master plan included identification of potential areas for expansion and improvement, including camping facilities and a new environmental education center. Since the majority of the state park's land is environmentally sensitive, our plan emphasized areas slated for land preservation and protection of natural resources.
